YuMe is part of the VON group of companies, and one of the largest Online Social Networks in the Asia Pacific region with over 2.1 million members.

Using the DRME-i moderation engine, Digital Recognition has been screening, categorising and moderating User Generated images for YuMe since September 2009. The total number of UGC<ins datetime="2010-04-21T16:40" cite="mailto:daniel.kennedy"> </ins>items moderated currently stands at over a seven figure number.<del datetime="2010-04-21T11:16"> </del>

Before partnering with Digital Recognition, YuMe Customer Support staff used a large portion of their time to check against inappropriate UGC content on the YuMe website. This moderation process consisted of time consuming and laborious manual checking of user uploaded images awaiting approval for publication.

After the straight forward and seamless integration of the DRME-i engine with Digital Recognition SDK-API onto YuMe platform, The time that has been saved by the Customer Support team member is now gainfully spent on other project work, which adds value and richness to the overall YuMe site user experience, driving traffic, and increasing the potential of the platform for monetisation by way of increased advertising revenue.

Results

• Productivity increase by 80% in comparison with traditional manual moderation activity.

• Zero Customer or Advertiser complaints.

• 100% Moderation Result Accuracy during moderation period.

• Increased Client knowledge as previously unidentified categories of inappropriate UGC identified.

• Digital Recognition delivered a Brand Safe environment for YuMe and its advertising partners, increasing the opportunities for future monetisation of its rich media UGC assets.

The number of UGC videos being shared on the Internet increases every day, likewise the amount of inappropriate and offensive video content being shared and exposed multiple times to your online-mobile audience and business partners. The volume of UGC content is becoming enormous, and the need has rapidly arisen to complement pure manual moderation with an effective visual technology based solution, to scale-up moderation capabilities without losing performance and at a lower Total Cost of Ownership for publishers and service providers.

So how to moderate UGC videos more efficiently as volume arises? What challenges need to be addressed first?

1. UGC Properties and Services are 3.5x under monetized

72% of Advertisers are reluctant to use a UGC based Ad Inventory because inappropriate UGC content represents an unsafe environment.

2. There exists a high level of inappropriate content in rich media UGCs for business

Up to 80% of UGC videos can contain content inappropriate to your business.

3. Manual moderation repeatedly moderates the same content, without even recognizing this fact

Up to 85% of rich media UGC shared on the Internet is identical to, or very slightly differentiated via editing / manipulation (an alias) to previously uploaded User Generated Content.

What’s more, UGC aliases are resubmitted multiple times, across international borders and in a timeframe that extends far beyond the original submission window (frequently 6 months and more after the original submission).

Digital Recognition has worked to solve those 3 challenges into a turn-key solution available now, by providing intelligent automations which address the differential nature of inappropriate UGC , while being seamlessly integrable in the existing moderation process and infrastructure of UGC publishers. This solution is called Digital Recognition Moderation Engine (DRME) is an automated and intelligent moderation engine designed specifically to review and classify User-Generated-Content (UGC) image and video for inappropriate and offensive content. DRME comes as standard with an extensive granularity of content categorisation, to fulfill your most specific, complex and local UGC moderation needs.

DRME-v – Moderation engine for UGC Videos

DRME-v is an intelligent Software as a Service (SaaS) moderation engine specifically designed for UGC Video: DRME-v is based on proven and accurate (certified valid for court evidence) visual recognition technologies that learn and update its international database as it reviews and processes UGC videos. DRME-v is Platform and device agnostic for online, mobile, gaming, and IPTV devices.

DRME-v monitors and categorizes UGC videos using a classification tool optimized for scalability and flexibility to offer the most extensive granularity of content categories and sub-categories to meet any specific, complex or local Client needs.

DRME-v Key Benefits

Ensure a Brand Safe UGC environment for you and your partners with 100% screening and protection against inappropriate UGC video from day ONE of the Moderation process and the very first UGC processed.

Deliver and scale full performance moderation from DAY ONE and the FIRST rich media UGC file processed, from low to very high volumes, without losing performance.

80% increase in rich media UGC moderation efficiency.

Save up to 90% of the Total Cost of Ownership of your moderation activity.

Enable new revenue opportunities by converting your UGC submissions and files into monetizable assets.
